January 2/3 - January 8-11

Welcome Back and Happy New Year!

These past two weeks have brought us a lot of snow and two snow days!

Our Reading Street story was Little Quack by Lauren Thompson.  This story is about five ducklings who are afraid to swim in the pond with their mother.  One by one, the ducklings feel brave enough to jump in the pond.  Little Quack, the smallest duckling, is the last to jump in, and when he does he feels so proud of himself!

To learn about Martin Luther King Jr., the kiddos followed along and colored a booklet titled Meet Martin Luther King Jr. that can be found here.

Centers
Here are some photos from a few of our centers over the past two weeks!

The kiddos played Where is Mr. Crayon?

We drew pictures and finished the sentence to share what we want to do in 2018!

The students wrote and drew to share what they used to be afraid to do, just like Little Quack!

During math, we started to learn about measuring!  We learned to use comparison words such as longer than, taller than, and shorter than to describe objects.  The kiddos compared the height of cubes, and then compared their own height to each other.  Here are two groups standing in order of shortest to tallest!

This week we also built snowman!
