November 28-December 2 Happenings!

Welcome back from Thanksgiving and welcome to December!

I know I keep saying this, but I cannot believe how fast this year is going by!

Reading
Our story was called A Bed For the Winter by Karen Wallace.  The main character, a dormouse, is searching for a safe and warm home for the winter.  Along the way she sees many different animals and where they live.  She finally finds that her perfect home is a hole in a tree trunk!

Fundations
Letters V and W! We are so close to introducing all of our letters.  We are continuing to work on mastering the sounds and letter formation for each letter!

Centers

Handwriting Center
The boys and girls traced the letters v and w and then colored the corresponding keyword pictures "van" and "wind".

Poem Center
The boys and girls read the poem "December".  They then drew an illustration for the poem.

Fundations Center
The boys and girls played Rhyme Time, a BINGO like game.  We are continuing to practice rhyming!

Writing Center
The kiddos drew a place where an animal might sleep during the winter, like a tree trunk, or under a rock.  They then labeled their pictures with the sounds they heard in the word!

Pocket Chart
We sorted pictures by the initial sound /v/ and /w/.

ABC Center
Following Pocket Chart, the kiddos traced, wrote, and searched for the letters v and w.  They then drew a picture of something that beings with each letter.

Work With Miss Farr
The boys and girls worked with me to sound out and spell CVC words.  They did a great job!

Math
This week we began Math Centers!

On Monday and Tuesday the kiddos completed centers exploring more and less.

On Thursday and Friday the kiddos completed centers that dealt with graphs!

Lets Find Out!
We learned about how chipmunks get ready for winter!  The kiddos loved the pictures of the chipmunk, especially when he had cheeks full of nuts!

PLAY TIME!
