November 14-18 Happenings!

Reading
We got back into our reading series this week with the adorable story Animal Babies in Grasslands.  This book taught us the names of baby zebras, lions, prairie dogs, and even elephants (a group favorite!)  The kiddos did a great job identifying the baby names and matching them to the type of animal through this learning experience!

Fundations
Letters h, l, and k this week! We focused on writing these letters correctly.  We found that k can be very tricky! However, the kiddos are doing a FANTASTIC job learning all the sounds!

Centers

Pocket Chart
The boys and girls worked to sort pictures by the initial sounds /h/, /l/, and /k/.

ABC Center
After sorting the pictures at Pocket Chart, the kiddos traced, wrote and searched l, h, and k.  They then drew a picture of something that begins with each sound.

Handwriting Center
The boys and girls traced the letters l, h, and k and then colored the corresponding keyword pictures "lamp", "hat", and "kite".

Seatwork Center
The students worked with a partner to sort pictures by the initial sound /g/, /d/, /s/, /r/, /p/, and /j/.  They did a great job!

Art Center
The kiddos made turkeys to show what they are thankful for!  They wrote one thing on each feather!

Fundations Center
The kiddos worked to write 7 letters that we have learned so far!

Writing Center
The boys and girls drew two animal babies.  They then labeled their picture!

Let's Find Out!
We learned about the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Native Americans!  Our magazine taught us about how they lived and what they did for fun!

Math
We used our listening skills to identify numbers!  I gave the kiddos clues and they worked hard to determine what number I was thinking of!  We also learned about ordinal numbers!

Bubble Mania!
The kiddos loved this week's enrichment program, Bubble Mania with Casey Carle!
