Miss Farr's Kinder: October 17-21 Happenings

Hello Everyone!

Thank you for those of you who continue to follow our learning! We always have a blast and I hope you enjoy looking at the pictures and reading about what we do!

Reading

We read the book Dig, Dig, Digging by Margaret Mayo. In this story we learned about all different types of machines! From cranes, to trucks, to diggers, we learned how each truck helps construction workers do their job and we learned that they work all day long!

Fundations

This week's letters were a and g, with the following keywords: apple and game. The kiddos did a great job learning how to write these letters and practicing identifying the sound each letter makes. We also practiced rhyming this week!

Centers

Pocket Chart

The kiddos worked to sort pictures by the initial sounds /a/ and /g/.

ABC Center

We traced, wrote, and searched for the letters a and g. They then drew a picture for each letter.

Writing Center

The boys and girls drew a picture and labeled a truck from our story Dig, Dig, Digging.

Science Center

The kiddos completed their first tree observation! We adopted a tree in the front of the school and the kiddos went outside to draw a picture of what the tree looks like right now in the Fall!

Drawing Center

The kiddos drew the next two pictures in their drawing books: a penguin and a dinosaur!

Handwriting Center

The students traced and wrote the letters a and g. They then colored the corresponding keyword pictures.

Fundations Center

The kiddos used their white boards to practice writing some of the letters we have already learned!

Let's Find Out

Voting time! This week we learned about voting and we even casted our ballots for the upcoming presidential election! Our victor was Secretary Hillary Clinton

Math

We finished our chapter on sorting! We took both a chapter test this week and a unit test. Next week we will start Unit 2: Getting Started with Numbers. We will learn about the numbers 0-5 first!
