May 16-20 Happenings

On time for this post! Woohoo!
Update: We only have 4 1/2 weeks left of school!! (Such mixed emotions!)

This week we sang the story Old MacDonald Had a Woodshop by Lisa Shulman.  We were able to watch, Old MacDonald, a sheep, build something with all of her friends!  Each friend brought a different tool to the woodshop and we saw how each tool was used.  The story ends with the big reveal of what the animals built: a farm!  The kiddos LOVED this story and we had a blast singing it everyday!

We were lucky to welcome so many parents to our classroom this week to share with us what they do for work!  The kiddos have been very intrigued by the descriptions of the parents' jobs and the materials the parents have brought in, such as contacts, computer chips, and PT equipment!

Work Board

Math Center
This is by farr (haha) my favorite math center of the year!  The kiddos practiced subtraction by going bowling!  They recorded the total number of pins (10), the amount of pins they knocked down, and then solved the problem to find how many pins were left standing!
(Thanks to the parents for taking such great photos!)

Social Studies Center
The boys and girls drew a picture and wrote a sentence about what they might like to be when they grow up!

Listening Center
The kiddos listened to the story Pete the Cat: Old MacDonald Had a Farm.  They then drew a picture of their favorite part of the story!

Work with Miss Farr
This week we read stories about tools, building homes, and country homes!  The students completed an activity before or after they read with me!

Writing Center
The boys and girls drew a picture and wrote a sentence to share what they would build if they were a builder!
