February 9-12 Happenings!

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!

Another four-day week right before vacation.  The cold temps are here and so is the snow!  With that comes winter boots and snow pants that take what seems like forever to take off!  Our morning meetings have been starting later and later, but that is okay because the kiddos were happy to look out the windows multiple times this week and yell "IT'S SNOWING!"  If only I could be as enthusiastic as they are!

This week we read the story My Lucky Day by one of my favorite authors Keiko Kasza.  This story is about a pig who tricks a hungry fox into giving him a bath, a delicious dinner, and a massage before he is "cooked" for lunch.  The fox ends up becoming too tired to cook the pig and the pig goes on his way to the next house of a predator he can trick.  The children loved the story!  If you want to check out one of my favorite books read A Mother For Choco by Keiko Kasza.

We also learned about the letter Ll this week.  We identified and made a list of words that begin with the letter Ll.
We also practiced sorting words this week by the beginning sound.  On Friday, we took on the difficult task of sorting words by the beginning vowel sound.  The kiddos did a great job!  We are definitely learning these tricky sounds.
