September 16-20 Happenings!

Hi again everyone!

We began Reading Workshop this week!  The kiddos read signs that they see all the time like McDonalds and a stop sign!

The boys and girls worked to strengthen their find motor skills with lacing cards, links, and nuts and bolts.

For math, we learned how to count the math way.  We start with our left hand, palm facing out, putting up our pinky to represent one, and then going to the right, one finger at a time.  The boys and girls practiced showing these numbers using beans and left hand mat.

For Fundations, the students identified the initial sound in objects and in drawings.  If the object began with the /t/ sound, they placed it in one bucket.  If it didn't, they placed it in another.

They also colored their letter T books.

For science, we learned that weather has four different parts: what is in the sky, what the temperature is (which we can learn by looking at what people are wearing), if it is windy, and if it is rainy or snowy.  We went outside to observe the weather and all four parts. We then came back inside to record our observations in the form of a drawing of that day’s weather.

During reading, we learned how partners sit side by side, and place one book in the middle!

During Choice Time, each kiddo made a "stained glass" apple for our classroom windows!
